Drawing on a wealth of experience working on yachts of all sizes, Crew Solutions was established by Dr. Emma Gillett to provide a yacht industry focused talent management and mentoring service that supports industry professionals at every stage of their career.
We are proud to be in the vanguard of industry professionals looking to transform the onboard working culture in the industry we love. HELM places crew safety front and centre of their revised guidelines. And not simply physical safety but the psychological safety of all those on board.

In isolation, hierarchical ‘top-down’ approaches have often failed to deliver the expected workplace transformation. This is why crew education and empowerment from day one are key to creating positive and supportive work cultures that, in turn, promote crew development and safeguarding.

With both yacht industry experience and health sector, university teaching, mentoring and course design expertise in-house, we not only understand the challenges but also how to deliver the solution.

Crew Solutions is a Helm-aligned teaching and mentoring service providing an individual pathway to leadership via the use of three distinct classroom modules and ongoing personal reflective learning practice overseen by a Mentor.
HELM prescribes an approach that is reflective, personally integrative and feedback-driven with greater use of the ‘softer skills’. Our modules and mentoring are to be considered for all on board, as it is only with an understanding of the value of each individual crew member and their own supported learning in leadership, that a fully functional competency hierarchy and a just culture can be established on board.
